OSCE Chairmanship Training 2009 for Kazakhstan and Lithuania

 

Since 2007 CORE has conducted specialised OSCE Chairmanship Training courses: In 2007 and 2008, two four-week-long OSCE-related training courses were held for a total of 15 officials from the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, jointly commissioned by the Kazakh MFA and the German Federal Foreign Office.

This year a third OSCE Chairmanship Training course for 18 officials from Lithuania and Kazakhstan was held in Vienna from 1 to 14 June 2009. The lectures were given by CORE staff together with a number of OSCE experts from Vienna, The Hague and Warsaw. The theoretical part included lessons on general OSCE issues; the OSCE human dimension; field operations and the High Commissioner on National Minorities; new threats including economic and environmental issues, as well as on specific roles and responsibilities of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. The practical component included three days of working meetings with heads and leading representatives of delegations of OSCE participating States, senior representatives and experts of the OSCE Secretariat and other OSCE institutions. The language of instruction is English.
