From 3-4 June 2010, Elena Kulipanova participated in the Workshop “Europe and Central Asia, Partners in Global Governance” in Barcelona. The workshop was organized by the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB), Real Instituto Elcano und Casa Asia under support of the European Commission and the Spanish EU Presidency. Experts from Central Asia and Europe gathered to discuss selected issues during the three sessions on security architecture in the Euro-Asian space, energy and environmental challenges, and on social developments. The aims of the workshop were inter alia to identify the main topics for the future research agenda and to lay foundations for an informal network of experts to regularly exchange ideas and information.
