Sebastian Schiek, PhD candidate at CORE/IFSH, took interviews and collected data in Kazakhstan in October. Organizationally supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan, he interviewed high-ranking politicians and members of the state administration. Moreover, he spoke with local experts, journalists and staff members of international organisations. Sebastian Schiek will be in Kazakhstan to conduct field research for a second time in spring 2010. During this time he has a teaching assignment at the kazakh Agency for Civil Affairs in Astana.
