| Search for OSCE-related literature |
Excerpt from the Database of the "Specialized
Information Network of International Relations and Area
of Studies" (FIV-BLK). This excerpt provides you
with access to over 3.000 bibliographic references
and around 500 articles available
online dealing with all aspects of the
CSCE/OSCE.
-
The default setting of
the search is set to "truncated".
This means you only have to enter a part of the
search string, not whole phrases, names etc. (e.g.
"European U" instead of "European
Union").
-
Regarding author
names the syntax of the query has to
be: last name, name (e.g. "Schmidt, Helmut"
or "Schmidt, H").

The "Specialized Information
Network of International Relations and Area of Studies"
(FIV-BLK) is a consortium of ten independent research
institutes aimed at the establishment of common information
resources. The source of this Literature Service, the database
"International Relations and Area Studies", contains about
600.000 referral units (since 1974) at the end of 2001.
The types of documents are: articles (68%), books and reports
(24%), official publications and serials 4% each. Approx.
52% of the original documents are in English, 30% in German,
9% in French, 5% in Spanish, the rest in other languages.
Within FIV, the Center for OSCE Research (CORE, Hamburg),
which is involved in the OSCE Networking Project, is in
charge of adding documents and literature about the OSCE
to the database. The FIV provides the OSCE Networking Project
with more than 1000 OSCE relevant document entries, which
are updated on a monthly basis. The literature references
are not limited to bibliographical data but also include
a first textual opening up of the documents via a keyword
search facility. On the one hand, this allows searching
for specific academic literature within the database. On
the other hand, the keyword search permits a first textual
assessment of the literature references, once the user is
in possession of the search results. Wherever possible a
link refers to the url of fulltext articles of literature
